about us

Your hosts Irene and Jim, love providing a comfortable and relaxing base for you to explore the Trossachs and surrounding area.

Irene and Jim live in the original farmhouse next door to the Bothy. They love welcoming guests and helping them make the very most of their visit to the Trossachs. They are keen cyclists, hill walkers, trail runners and wild swimmers with a sound knowledge of local hills, lochs and trails. Read more on Jim’s Blog about his love of Biking, Bushcraft and Bees.

About our neighbourhood

Our rural location with big skies, clean fresh air, spectacular countryside, dark night skies with no light pollution, sits on the edge of the Highland Boundary Fault line and the Lomond and Trossachs National Park. We are surrounded by working farmland and often see Roe deer, Red Kites, Osprey and Hares from the property.

We are close to the Lake of Menteith (one of Europe’s finest and most scenic trout fisheries) 20 mins from Stirling and about an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh. We are equidistant from Aberfoyle and Callander with their lovely shops, cafes and pubs. This is the perfect base to explore all that the Trossachs has to offer.

There is a wide range of outdoor and sporting activities on the doorstep including gravel biking, trail running, Munro bagging, wild swimming, walking and fishing.

Our Green Commitment

Our electricity is provided from 100% renewable sources.  Toiletries and cleaning products are all planet friendly and we encourage recycling and waste minimisation.  We have a slow EV charger which is available on request. You can reach Newton Bothy using public transport – just contact us for advice and recommendations.  We have covered bike parking, with bike washing and servicing equipment on hand.
